AirBnB Elopements in Alberta: Treehouses, Yurts, and Rocky Mountain Cabins!

Getting married goes by in a blur, and whatever the wedding type (intimate, elopement, or traditional), it can feel like there isn’t enough time to soak in the day. That’s why I personally love the idea of booking an AirBnB for your elopement, so you can stay in that special place and feeling with one another just a little longer. Back in 2022, I researched the most picturesque AirBnB elopement opportunities in BC, and I’m back at it again with some absolutely incredible Alberta locations to share with you. So without further ado, read on for my favourite Alberta AirBnB elopement destinations. I hope you find one that is perfect for you!

A hidden treehouse for an intimate wedding

First on the list is an enchanting little treehouse with room for extra guests. This place is great for if you’re planning to extend a few invites for your elopement, or even turn it into an intimate wedding. Not only is the Hidden Treehouse Chalet in Kehewin totally off the ground, but it is totally off the grid, which makes for a super secluded and cozy elopement destination.

A few of my favourite features are its rock-sauna, its solar-powered electricity, and the fact that it is completely surrounded by nature. Since the treehouse sleeps six, you can invite a few of your closest guests to stay inside with you. And if you’re hoping for a full-on intimate wedding, the hosts are totally fine with you bringing tents and RVs onto the property as well for a larger overnight stay, making this one of the most flexible AirBnBs I found for accommodating additional guests.

Cabins and loghouses to share

While we’re on the subject of extra guests, Maggie’s Hill Heritage Loghouse is similar to the Hidden Treehouse, in that you can bring a few people along for the ride, though not as many as the chalet. This adorable heritage allows you to stay in a restored pioneer home without sacrificing modern amenities, so you can get some really cool photos against the rustic backdrop, but can still enjoy the comforts of home that you’re used to.

If you’re hoping to elope in Nordegg, this Modern Rustic Cabin with an authentic cedar barrel sauna is a gorgeous, trendy combination of rustic and contemporary features. Like the Heritage House, the Stix Cabin in Nordegg can also sleep more than just the happy couple, and its interior is fully updated, which is perfect if you are hoping for a more contemporary feel. And if you’re looking for a reason to elope in Nordegg, look no further than my recent blog on why this hidden gem hamlet is the ultimate elopement destination!

Just enough room for two with a view

If you want a space just big enough for you and your new spouse, these last two AirBnB elopement locations come with the benefit of no other buildings in sight! They are true retreats away from the world and into nature with your loved one. Firstly, The Cabin in the Woods comes with gorgeous mountain views, perfect for pictures, and is surrounded by 80 acres of secluded forest.

The Little Yurt in the Foothills of the Rockies also provides an off-grid retreat where you can focus just on each other and the love you share. This is one of the funkier places I found, and both its interior and exterior provide really unique opportunities for elopement photography (including super stylish getting ready photos).

You can also find many condos and apartments in Canmore with the classic mountain town aesthetic of wooden beams, rock walls, and rustic modern interiors. These are perfect if you’re hoping to stay closer to Banff and Canmore while getting ready for your elopement. Check out places like this Canmore condo with a hot tub and pool. It’s just minutes away from Banff, and provides you with those extra relaxation amenities for after you’ve finished exploring.

"Liv is extremely talented and great to work with! She gave us enough direction in our shoots to know what to do but still left tons of room for candid, genuine moments. Nothing beats seeing real smiles and laughter in your photos! She was more than willing to collaborate and go for some sillier ideas, and was always super encouraging. She's an incredibly sweet person and we felt very comfortable to be ourselves around her. Liv's talent is beyond just the technical knowledge, she really has an artist eye for beautiful photos. Her editing style is perfect, not too dark or light but still brings personality with the warm tones she adds. I HIGHLY recommend working with Liv!!"
