airbnb elopement locations in british columbia

AirBnB Elopements in BC: Treehouses, cabins, and yurts, oh my!

With weddings and elopements, it can often feel like you just want to stay in that moment forever, soaking in the new bliss of your two hearts becoming one. While forever may be hard to come by, using an AirBnB as your elopement location can at least allow you to remain in your hidden haven a little longer, enjoying time away from the rest of the world with your spouse. Anyone who knows me can tell you I have an affinity for elopements in and around Banff and the Icefields Parkway, but I’ve discovered some amazing elopement AirBnBs in BC that I can’t wait to share with you. Maybe you will find one that is a perfect fit for you!

British Columbia AirBnB Elopements

One incredibly important note on British Columbia AirBnBs is they book up fast, so if you’re hoping to take advantage of one of these locations, be sure to book as soon as possible! These locations were so fun to find, and I was truly blown away by the uniqueness and tranquility that some of them offer.

Treehouses

During my research into these potential AirBnB elopement locations, one place stuck out in particular for its breathtaking views, quick access to the mountains, and incredibly unique atmosphere. The Birdhouse is a designer treehouse specifically made for those who want a private getaway surrounded by nature. Inside you’ll find a cozy kitchen, a reading nook, and a rolling library ladder that leads up to the bedroom loft, with its open-beam ceilings and spectacular views. A pair of french doors take you out to a gorgeous cedar deck with an incredible lookout, perfect for pictures and complete with a view of the grazing Scottish Highland cattle. An authentic cable suspension bridge will even take you to your very own private outdoor shower. This place also comes equipped with a TV and streaming services, so you can curl up with your new spouse after the perfect elopement with a book or a show.

Cheam Peak and Whippoorwill Point Trail are a few of the nearby hikes, which are good not only for retreating into nature, but also for eloping on a mountaintop. Williamson Lake and Flora Peak are also gorgeous locations, but they are steeper hikes (and Williamson requires 4WD to reach the trailhead!), so they’re great options if you’re looking for an adventure before the vows. As you can tell, I’ve looked into this place a lot, and it would be a dream to shoot an elopement here with the endless views and perfect, private seclusion.

Another high haven that caught my eye is the Shaky Knees Tree House, an eco-friendly, unplugged experience set seven metres in the sky with a full wrap-around deck (and an adorable name). Red cedars and Douglas firs surround the treehouse, along with a pond that has its very own little waterfall. The coolest winding, wooden bridge takes you from the parking lot to the door. Many forested photos on that walkway await!

Tiny Homes

After all this research, I am obsessed with BC tiny homes. They offer perfect seclusion with amazing views, and allow you to retreat into a cozy hideaway right after saying I do. Of all the tiny homes I checked out for AirBnB elopements, these have to be my favourite:

Kicking Horse Tiny House, which comes with not only amazing views, but also wifi, a smart TV, a sauna, and a hot tub. Surrounded by the mountains, you can walk out the door and start your adventure right there: hiking, biking, skiing, taking amazing elopement photos, and whatever else strikes your fancy!

Torch & Timber Tiny Home, which boasts a picturesque bedroom window view of the Willow Bank Mountain. Comes complete with a wood-burning sauna and internet, and quick access to the hiking trails and opportunities for adventure around the area.

Rumspringa and The Shire, both private one-room builds made entirely from reclaimed materials. They are completely off the grid, with no electricity or water, but the “Main House” on the property is open 24/7 to guests for facilities use and coffee in the morning.

Glamping

If you’re looking to do some elopement glamping near Golden, Two Ravens Yurt was built specifically for romantic retreats. This modern little getaway is eco-friendly and surrounded by nature on all sides. Not too far off, Kicking Horse Yurt is also embedded in the forest, and comes with a private hot hub and even free wifi.

There are so many options for glamping elopements in BC, I can’t possibly get into them all. But a few of my other favourites include:

Glow, a Canvas Cottage with Lake Access which, despite its very off-the-grid nature, still boasts running water and facilities for its guests.

Haida Gwaii Glamping, a property so secluded it’s on a totally separate island from the mainland.

The Lagoon Float Camp, a floating getaway so private you have to access it by boat!

Cabins and Cottages

Finally, if you’re hoping for a bit of extra space, I’ve got a growing list of cabins perfect for an AirBnB elopement in BC. Before I get into it, The Moosewood deserves its own introduction. This cabin is a mountain getaway set in the Sunshine Valley, and it is honestly a dream shoot location for me. The cabin is as picturesque as its surrounding nature. A highly renovated barn, it has the perfect combination of rustic and modern architecture, both inside and out. Only 15 minutes from Hope and 35 from Manning Park Resort, it is “the perfect launch pad for all your outdoor adventures.” A few of the nearby hikes include the Hope-Nicola Valley and Kawkawa Lake Lookout, which might be my favourite option for elopement purposes, and the Hope Mountain hike, which is a bit more challenging, but totally worth it for the views! The great thing about this place is without even getting in your car, you can explore the backcountry from right outside the front door. They even keep a few pairs of snowshoes on hand for the guests to use in the winter months! Just imagine eloping with the views of the Sunshine Valley, and then curling up by a crackling wood stove with your new spouse in a gorgeous getaway meant just for you.

And if Sunshine Valley isn’t your dream destination, I found some cute and cozy cabins and cottages that span from Golden all the way to Queen Charlotte, BC. While their capacities vary, most of these AirBnBs have room for you to include a few extra guests, ideal for if you are hoping to include a couple of family members or treasured friends in your elopement stay. These properties include:

Redwood Cabin, a modern, yet rustic west coast retreat. Totally unplugged and surrounded by ferns, trees, and old park trails that lead straight to the beach.

The Ultimate Modern Escape, a unique and visually stunning cabin on the Blaeberry River, surrounded by five national parks. Canoe or raft the Blaeberry River, hike the nearby trails (spanning all skill levels of mountaineer), or take advantage of the additional recreational opportunities available in Golden.

Mandala House, a unique cylindrical style home with panoramic views of the Bearskin Bay. Here, island cabin meets… castle tower? Honestly, it’s difficult to describe the rare beauty that is this house and its stunning views.

The Waterfront Cabin and Sauna, a rustic-modern cabin on the ocean. The best part? It’s on its own private island. Talk about an intimate elopement. Bike, hike, or take advantage of the private beach to go swimming, canoeing or paddle-boarding just the two of you.

Cob Cottage, an adorable mushroom home with architecture straight out of a funky fantasy world. Located on the secluded Mayne Island, this hand-sculpted house is made entirely of sustainable and natural materials, and offers quick access to all things island (like a romantic beach walk for two!).

"Liv is extremely talented and great to work with! She gave us enough direction in our shoots to know what to do but still left tons of room for candid, genuine moments. Nothing beats seeing real smiles and laughter in your photos! She was more than willing to collaborate and go for some sillier ideas, and was always super encouraging. She's an incredibly sweet person and we felt very comfortable to be ourselves around her. Liv's talent is beyond just the technical knowledge, she really has an artist eye for beautiful photos. Her editing style is perfect, not too dark or light but still brings personality with the warm tones she adds. I HIGHLY recommend working with Liv!!"
