Engagement sessions, anniversary photos, or just your good ol’ couple’s adventure session. No matter what you are preparing for everyone always asks the same question “what the heck do I wear?” Don’t you worry fam. I am here for you, and I am going to share with you my top tips and tricks to help you pick out the PERFECT outfit for your upcoming couples session.
This is probably the most common tip you are going to hear when planning your outfit, but for good reason. I always recommend to avoid wearing bright colours or big logos. You don’t want your outfit to be the main focus in your photos. Wearing neutral colours will help keep the focus on the connection rather than what you’re wearing.
Wear something that you feel comfortable in and that you can move around in with no issues. I always get my couple’s running around and being a little crazy with each other. The last thing you want is to be worried about your dress flying up and flashing everyone, or if your bra strap is showing.
If you are in the snowy mountains a light jacket would probably fit, and you could always add a toque. If you are on the beach by the ocean, you’d probably feel more comfortable in a swimsuit. If you are in your own home, sweatpants and a t-shirt (or no shirt) would be just fine. If it’s the middle of fall, wear colours that will compliment the fall colours. Try to think of what your location is like and what the weather will be, and then dress accordingly.
Coordinate, don’t match. Rather than wearing the exact same colours, wear colours that compliment each other. To help you find complimentary colours try finding a colour palette you like and matching your outfits to that.
This is THE most important tip I can give you. These photos are about YOU and sharing YOUR story which is why it is so essential you dress like yourself. This is not the time to experiment with new styles. You know what you look good in and feel confident in, so wear that! Be 100% YOU, and ROCK that with confidence!!
I hope these tips help you choose your perfect outfit, but don’t stress over it too much. No matter what you wear your photos will be beautiful because they showcase your love and share your story.

"Liv is extremely talented and great to work with! She gave us enough direction in our shoots to know what to do but still left tons of room for candid, genuine moments. Nothing beats seeing real smiles and laughter in your photos! She was more than willing to collaborate and go for some sillier ideas, and was always super encouraging. She's an incredibly sweet person and we felt very comfortable to be ourselves around her. Liv's talent is beyond just the technical knowledge, she really has an artist eye for beautiful photos. Her editing style is perfect, not too dark or light but still brings personality with the warm tones she adds. I HIGHLY recommend working with Liv!!"
